JAVONIEL TROWERS

Actor

Javoniel Trowers is a twenty six year old spoken word artist, engineer and entrepreneur. Under the name Jay Tallawah, he is a multifaceted creative known for creating highly engaging and captivating poetic performances. He is a passionate and dedicated individual and has a long track record of leadership and innovation that sets him apart.

At Wolmer's Boys' School he was instrumental as the President of the Writer's Circle and developed inter-school Open Mic Events and competitions during his tenure. He had also launched Bookophilia Page Turners book club and the short lived Philomath Magazine.

He went to Howard University to study chemical engineering. At Howard he further developed his leadership capabilities and his dedication to service. On campus, he was President of the Rotaract Club of Howard University and Business Manager and Alpha Line President of Sigma Phi Delta Fraternity for Engineers. He developed numerous service programs including park cleanups to aiding veteran homes. He has worked with World Press Photo and Dupont Underground to raise awareness of the Flint Water crisis. He has created opportunities for engineers through creating panel discussions and networking seminars. He also had a dedication to youth service where he was a Team Leader for a 3 day youth camp for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. He also served as a STEM mentor for middle-school children at the Verizon Innovation Center. He has experience in scientific research and has been an assistant in organic chemistry labs and computational chemistry labs.

Post graduation, he studied web development at the Amber Heart Academy at Stony Hill Campus. He was a peer counselor for students on campus and was given the honor to be the Youth Speaker for the 2021 Eastern TVET Youth Conference. Currently, he is an executive member of the Poetry Society of Jamaica and aids to produce their monthly fellowships. He is an active member of the poetry scene in Kingston. He frequently performs at Poetry Plus at AC Hotels, PenSoul at Ragamuffin and the Poetry Society of Jamaica at Edna Manley.

He has twice been a featured poet, performing at The Sky Gallery and Food For Thought Poetry and Fashion Show. He is currently involved in aiding poets make a living through their career as a member of The Poet Life's Poetry Business Network team and a founding member of JAIKU, a poetry talent agency.

 

He runs his own creative enterprise, Tallawah Poetry where he creates custom poetry events, poems and haikus and copy-writing services. He started taking acting classes under the tutelage of Owen "Blakka" Ellis at Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. He aims to win and gain a scholarship to study acting through the WCOPA competition. He has a grand vision to use all the knowledge he has gained from his diverse experiences to eventually open his own creative enterprise to tell captivating stories of resilience. He is passionate about self-development and believes strongly in finding one's own voice. Overall, he hopes to be a beacon that inspires others to push through their darkest moments.
